 Hi, Debra;
Just a little note to tell you Thank You so much for the wonderful care your "Haven in Allyn" provides for Mother and all who are there. Your celebration of each life everyday is such a blessing and to top it off your over the top Halloween Party was a blast. We especially enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner - it was the best!  Many, many thanks, Debra, for your love, care, concern an your dream.

Shalom. dear friend,
     Penny & Charlotte

Chris and would like to thank the entire staff of Haven in Allyn, for the love, caring and respect you showed our mom. You made her a part of your family as you became a part of ours.  More than we can express in words, we are saddened by our loss. We will forever miss her but we are grateful that she was able to spend her time at the Haven in Allyn. She was happy comfortable and in the best of care.  You are wonderful!

With love,

  Susan White
     & Chris Nutter

Debra,

Thank you! Words can not express how thankful I am that Dad spent his last days at Haven. God bless you and keep you all!                     Sue

The residents are our priority in every sense—their mental, physical and social well-beings are tended to with care, compassion and professionalism 24 hours a day.  Everyone wakes up in the morning when they want to and everyone is greeted with a big smile, a dose of happy energy and lots of loving patience.  Every resident has a different story. Here are a few of them:

Joyce and Bill have been married for sixty-plus years. Joyce was diagnosed with dementia several years ago and Bill promised her parents to always care for Joyce. Bill has emphysema and could no longer care for her without help. They share a large room at the Haven and they each get the care and social support they need. They like to spend time together listening to dance tunes of the 1940’s, enjoying the view and holding hands.  Having parents in the same care facility has been a big relief for the family, too. Sensitivity to the family’s concerns and challenges are respected and acknowledged.  We listen to special needs, answer questions, and invite participation through unscheduled visits, overnight stays, meal sharing and fun activities.  Come on out and join us any time!

Charlotte was in a locked facility, paranoid about people and fearful. Upon joining the Haven, she was encouraged to participate in social activities. She now enjoys bible studies, twice weekly, and she feels safe.  She is making friends with the other residents. Singing hymns is her favorite activity. Her family enjoys visits which involve birthday parties and other shared activities.

Sandy was brought from home and had been cared for by his wife who hadn’t slept for two years and was truly exhausted.  He wasn’t eating and was losing weight. Although the family had hired help around, there still was no assistance for bathing or heavy work. The family was worried about the health of both parents. Since arriving at the Haven, he is always clean and shaven, eating well and gaining weight. Now his wife can visit as much as she wants and they enjoy their time together. The family is relieved to see both parents improving.

Dee was in a locked facility and very isolated due to dementia before coming to the Haven. She had received only minimal attention and developed many negative behaviors as a natural result.  Upon arrival at the Haven, the staff gave her a lot of love with personal attention and she has become less angry. Her attention seeking behaviors have decreased and she is more social. She is never in her room anymore and acts as our official greeter.

Jean entered the Haven under hospice care. Upon arrival, she was in bed 100% of the time and found to be over-medicated. Reduction of her medications, improvement of her appetite, and staff’s daily attention to hair and dress has brought “Jean” back.  She gained ten pounds in the first two months and greets people with a smile that is piercing.

Viv thought she was going to die and her family wanted a kind care giving facility to care for her in her final days. She had developed pressure ulcers, wasn’t eating and going down hill fast, when the family decided they could not keep the promise to keep her in her home. She was picked up by Haven and within a couple of days she had started eating again. Daily grooming of hair and dress and socializing with the other residents has greatly improved her quality of life. She spends most of her days in the common area with staff and other residents.
